MUST do.

Amidst the chaos of the last 7 days of school before Christmas vacation I've solidified one thing to do on my "To Do" list when I have 16 student-free days. I'm going to read a book. And I'm going to start in the morning, still in my pajamas, and end whenever I get finished. Eating will be optional, cleaning will not. I won't do anything else that day except read that ever-loving stress-reducing book.
Problem is, I don't know what book to read.
I'll take suggestions.
But remember, it has to be ever-loving AND stress-reducing.

There are two books I like to recommend to people and every time I do, they end up loving them as much as I do.

These Is My Words by Nancy Turner
The Magic of Ordinary Days by Ann Howard Creel

With 16 student free days, I think you'd definitely have time for two books!

Here are a few I've read and loved recently (or not so recently):

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (this takes place in Germany during WWII, so it may not completely fit your definition of stress-reducing, but it's sooooo good)
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
Famous Writer's School by Steven Carter
Enchantment by Orson Scott Card

No matter what you read, you have to tell us about it, because I'm always looking for new books.

Enjoy your 16 student-free days!

Ooh, I always love a challenge. Okay. Ever-loving and stress-reducing, here we come.

SILENT IN THE GRAVE by Deanna Raybourn (Victorian murder mystery made of awesome.)

A SONG FOR SUMMER by Eva Ibbotson (Austrian, alpine frolicsome loveliness. Set during WWII, of course.)

MYSTIC AND RIDER by Sharon Shinn (Six comrades against the world fantasy. Humor, magic, romance, oh my!)

SUITE SCARLETT by Maureen Johnson (Because Scarlett's family reminds me of your family. And because it's hiLARious.)

Also, THE BOOK THIEF is exquisite and you should definitely read it if you haven't already.

I don't have any suggestions, but thanks for this post because it's given me some ideas of books to read.

Well, you could try:

Mort by Terry Pratchett
or
Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams

...Oh, you were looking for relaxing books and not strange-British-satire. My bad.

I just finished "1-2-3", "Colors" and "Opposites" for the 834th time. The kiddies love em. You could probably get through all three in 16 days.
