I love my dad. I think he has one of the funniest senses of humor. Maybe that's because it's so close to mine. The other day he "accompanied me" (using a falsetto voice with lots of embellishment) as I sang a song from my first grader's opera. (I only mention it here to remind myself because I never, never, EVER want to forget it and there's no possible way I could re-create it in writing. We'll just have to do it again and video tape it.) Here's a little transcript of the song: I'm in quotes. Dad's in parenthesis.
"Weee will come and help you get the waaaater!" (Water! Water water water!)
"We will fill" (oh, we'll fill!) "the hole" (yes, the hole!) "with waaater."
"We are helping you" (help help!) "We are HELPing you" (yes, we help!)
"We are heeere" (ah, ahhhh!) "to heeeelp" (yes we are!) "youuu" (We are here to help you!)
We sang amidst the amazment of my younger brother who thought, for an instant, that we had gone completely insane. My dad had never even heard my song before and he was able to add just the right background to the words. Amazing. THAT's what kind of dad I have.
Back to the original point I was making....
My dad is a CPA. And not just any CPA. He is a partner( the boss! the head-honcho!) in a CPA firm in Salt Lake. People FEAR him! He reigns supreme in his office! The minnions quake at the sound of his approaching footsteps! The peons rush to get him his morning coffee! "I DON'T DRINK COFFEE!" he yells. "We're sorry, sir!" they humbly reply as they drop to their faces and kiss his feet. What I mean to say is, he's got a lot of responsibilities at his office. And April is a very busy month for him. Which is why this video is so AWEsome (and possibly incriminating if any of his fellow partners see it).
I fondly call it "CPA Gone AWOL". It was taken yesterday while my dad was playing "hookey" from work (in APRIL, no less) and my mom and I were his accomplices. We were four-wheeling up in the Uintahs when we came across a sign that said "BE CAREFUL" with a picture of a snowmobile next to it. Dad's reply was, "That sign doesn't apply to us because we've got ATV's. That means I can ride my ATV backwards! Ha ha!" (Those may not have been his exact words.) That's when I started filming.
